Hungary will start vaccinatingpeople suffering no chronic diseases with Russia's SputnikCOVID-19 vaccine soon, the surgeon general said on Tuesday,becoming the first European Union country to use it. Cecilia Muller said the first 2,800 doses of Sputnik wouldbe given to those who have registered for inoculations, and thatas Hungary was striving for "maximum safety" those who have achronic disease will not get the shot. "It... can be used with appropriate caution in case ofcertain chronic diseases," she told a briefing.

Hungarian authorities confirmed 1,862 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the past 24 hours and there were 97 fatalities, the official government website said.
